Newsletter
Nursery News God has blessed the Nursery with an abundance of newcomers. Our staff are thrilled and excited with the gift that we have been given to teach these little ones. We are now able to separate our two and three year olds during Sunday morning service and will be using the overflow room, however they will be signed in and signed out and picked up at the Nursery desk when the service is over.
Policies
Information for Parents: The nursery and toddler facilities of Northside Baptist Church are designed to serve infants and toddlers (birth to 48 months), their parents and the church as a whole. By providing loving care for little children, we are helping them form the impression that church is a pleasant place. Because we make provision for your children, parents can attend and participate more fully in the services of the church. In order to achieve our purpose, we ask that you read these policies carefully. They have been designed with the welfare of the children in mind. We appreciate your cooperation. A suggestion box is located outside of the nursery. Please feel free to share your welcomed thoughts and ideas.
Our nursery is available for: Sunday School, Sunday Morning Service, Sunday Evening Service, Wednesday Evening Services, and Adult Choir Practice.
Policies:
- On your baby's first visit to the nursery, complete the All About Me form and give your baby's instruction sheet to the director or teacher so your child will have the best care possible.
- Sign in your baby on the sign-in/sign-out sheet. Note any special instructions the workers need to know. Fill out a feeding card on each visit.
- Your baby will be returned only to you! Please do not send a sibling, relative or friend. If your spouse is to pick up your child, please put both of your names on the sign-in sheet.
- Leave your baby at the nursery counter. In order to avoid confusion and to provide proper care and safety for the children, NO ONE is allowed in the nursery area except workers, volunteers and babies, without special provisions from the nursery director. (Mothers who are breast-feeding their babies may come in at any time) Please be inconspicuous when checking on your baby between services.
- Leave the nursery area quickly after the preliminaries are completed so your baby can adjust to his/her new surroundings. If crying persists, a nursery worker will come for you or beep you. If your child knowingly persists in crying, please take a beeper.
- When the service is over, return for your baby as soon as possible before visiting with others so that our workers may be released to care for their own children.
- Parents are welcome to look in the window at any time, but please do not try to get the attention of the children.
- Make sure your diaper bag has your Child’s name on it.
- Equip your diaper bag with the following items:
* disposable diapers, if necessary any particular cleansing agents you want nursery workers to use * pacifier, if used * enough pre-made bottles for the baby's stay in the nursery * extra pull ups if applicable * a complete change of clothes * child's cup or sippy cup (with their name on it)
- No food is to be brought into the nursery. Snacks will be provided.
- lease spoon feed your child before services as this takes our staff workers much needed time and attention away from our little ones.
- This is a well-baby nursery. Please do not bring a sick baby to the nursery. Signs of illness include; unusual fatigue or irritability with excessive coughing, runny nose, infected eyes or fever. Please keep your child at home if they have had a questionable rash, vomiting, diarrhea or fever within the past 24 hours, also if they have an eye infections or open sores.
- Please no outside toys. At this age, it is hard to understand the concept of sharing; especially if the toy is your own.
- Children are promoted to the 4-year-old Sunday School class on their birthday.
- Please do not leave any children unattended in the nursery if the scheduled teacher/helper has not yet arrived.
- Please do not ask anyone in the nursery to deviate from these guidelines. If you feel that one of these guidelines cannot be adhered to by you, please contact Margaret Freeman to discuss the situation with her, then if necessary we can go to Bro. Mark and he will decide if the nursery workers can deviate from the guidelines or not.
Our Nursery Staff work hard to keep our rooms and items sanitary for your little ones.
- We spray changing tables and wash our hands after each change.
- We change out and wash small toys after each day use.
- We spray disinfectant or use Clorox clean up wipes on all other toys, chairs, tables, beds, swings, etc. after each play period.
- We keep sippy cups (labeled with name) put up except for snack time.
- Our regular babies use the same bed each time to keep from spreading any germs. We have a few beds for visitors which are changed after each use.
Our Nursery Staff thanks you for your help in making our nursery a safe place where our babies receive proper and loving care. Both you and your precious gift from God are very important to all of us.
